My CRM Is Creating Duplicate Leads

You might have noticed that your ISA has engaged with one of your leads and a duplicate lead has now been created inside of your CRM. While this is not ideal, there is a reason that this is happening. The following will go over why this is happening.

WHY:

Some CRM's for example, kvCORE and Chime, will only allow us to search for a lead that is in their system via email. This is a limitation set by the CRM specifically. When this is the case, the API (a set of functions and procedures allowing the creation of applications that access the features or data of an operating system, application, or other service.) cannot find the email address that it is searching for, so it defaults and creates a new one.

WHEN:

There are 2 possible scenarios when this can or will happen.

  1. When your ISA changes or updates a bad/invalid email address to a new/valid one.
  2. When a lead exists that does not have an email address. This scenario will include any leads that are created from an inbound call or sms.

What To Do:

The best thing to do in this scenario (since there is no way around it) is to simply merge the duplicate contact with the updated info, to the existing contact inside of your CRM.
